Introducing Veet
Veet is a community-driven mentorship platform dedicated to helping tech professionals achieve their career goals. Founded on the belief that mentorship is the key to success in the tech industry, Veet connects mentees with experienced mentors who can provide guidance, support, and inspiration as they navigate their career paths.
In addition to providing mentorship opportunities, Veet is also a community of like-minded individuals passionate about learning, growing, and succeeding together. Through forums, events, and resources, Veet members have access to a wealth of knowledge and expertise.
This helps them stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in the industry.
How it all began
It all started on a Sunday evening when I and my co-founder realized that the tech ecosystem was growing really fast in Africa and the world at large. And most of these people who transition into tech come from different backgrounds and don't know the right direction to succeed. For some, they don’t even know where to start.
We started the Veet to solve our problems. Growing up, neither of us had a mentor, and always had to do things alone. Most of the time we make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes are costly and irreversible.
Despite this, we always feel the need to help people even when we are not at our best.
Then the idea came to us to work on a platform whereby people can learn, collaborate, and accelerate their learning and development in their career path.
A place where people instill confidence, feel inspired, share meaningful stories, and get access to a network of experts and resources.
That’s how Veet was born. A community-driven mentorship platform where people can find, book, and meet mentors around the world.
We started building in 2022. Along the way, we reached out to Ken to join us as our Co-founder and Backend Engineer. And in no time we built our waitlist with over 360+ people from different countries on our waitlist.
In February 2023, after months of work, we officially launched our beta version to the public.
Why we are building Veet?
With Veet, we aim to:
Create a place for people to learn, collaborate and grow together.
Provide a supportive community.
Build a global community of tech professionals.
Help our juniors get hired.
Provide mentorship from industry experts.
Teach what Bootcamps & courses don’t.
Host frequent workshops that simplify complexity in tech.
Achievements accomplished so far:
We currently have 269+ mentors from over 5 countries with 30 mentorship sessions completed and counting. it's still day one for us.
It has taken a lot of work to build and scale Veet and we’re glad we have finally launched.
We believe that in life, what and who you are must mean something to people in very tangible ways. Your knowledge, experience, contacts, and personal and professional journey are valuable. However, only if you invest them in people still walking the paths you have already walked.
The sense of fulfillment you get from doing this cannot be described. It is always a good idea to 'pass it on forward'.
This email reminds us of the value of diligent work and the role mentorship plays in building thriving communities in tech.
